Screensaver

The user experience is likely to begin with the screensaver. If the kiosk was previously used, the screensaver will activate after 5 minutes of inactivity.

Users are greeted with a screensaver that features an animated NYSBA logo and a white glove icon that prompts users to dismiss the screensaver.

Screensaver Timer

The screensaver operates continuously throughout the day until a user interacts with it. Once the screensaver is dismissed, if the kiosk remains inactive for 3 minutes on any screen, it will navigate to the CURRENT CLASS screen. After an additional 2 minutes of inactivity, the screensaver will reactivate.

Screensaver Features

The screensaver starts with an the NYSBA logo and hand animation. After 10 seconds, each member from the CURRENT CLASS screen will be displayed one by one. Each member's profile is shown for 10 seconds, with their photo prominently featured and their name alongside an animated glove icon that encourages users to learn more about them.

When a user dismisses the screen saver they are always brought the CURRENT CLASS screen which serves as the homepage.

☝️ Fun Fact

At first glance, the animated glove might seem like it's simply encouraging users to interact with the kiosk. However, if you pay close attention, you'll notice that the glove points to specific locations: it starts with New York City, moves to Syracuse, and finally points to Albany.

Screensaver Loading

The NYSBA kiosk app automatically refreshes at 2AM every day to load changes from the server. During this process, the screensaver color changes for approximately 1 minute and displays the text "loading". Color changes helps prevent screen burn-in. Once the data has been loaded, the app functions normally with any new data saved from the previous day.

If authorized, data can be changed in the Admin Panel.
